Voltage-Dependent Load Models in Unbalanced Optimal Power Flow Using Power Cones

Mathematical models representing the behavior of electrical loads are an important part any optimal power flow problem. The current state-of-the-art in unbalanced mostly considers wye-connected, constant loads. However, for applications such as conservation voltage reduction, it is crucial to model how consumption depends on network. This article develops a unified framework handle wide variety load types: delta- or power, and exponential models. Furthermore, proposes novel convex relaxation model, using cones, that intersected next with well-known semi-definite OPF. Finally, numerical results LVTestCase feeder included both exact, non-linear equations relaxation, which show considering sensitivity connection type can lead different objective values profiles. Additional 128 low-voltage networks, examine quality solutions obtained proposed relaxation.
